We wanted to offer a special presentation to our Flemish neighbours, who speak and read Dutch as well. This became an afternoon of discussion on November 2024 in the heart of Ghent in Belgium. Lead author Sybilla Claus, education expert Marianne Driessen, and pathologist Ruben Buijs took their places on the stage in succession. The latter two experts also contributed to the book. The afternoon was moderated by Martin Harlaar, editor of the book 'Het genderexperiment' (2024).
There were a striking number of doctors in the audience, plus some lawyers. The presence of Jan Cor from the organization Cry for Recognition was noteworthy. This is a support group for parents of a child with gender dysphoria. You can find a lot of useful information on their website.
Flemish bestselling author Griet Vandermassen holds a doctorate in philosophy and a Master's in Germanic languages. Her highly readable book 'Dames voor Darwin' (2019) is a must-read for anyone interested in psychological sex differences. During the second feminist wave we thought that every child could develop freely. We now know from research in biology and evolutionary psychology that there are significant differences between girls and boys. In 'Gender Rebels', we discuss the book 'Dames voor Darwin', and we are honoured that Vandermassen could be there.
